Communities in Focus:
- Women in Rural India: Through its on-going project “More and Better Women’s ICT based Enterprises,” Drishtee aims to spread the benefits of ICT to the thousands of women in the rural India and this work has been already initiated in some of the areas. When surveyed, it was found that very few female in rural India get the opportunity to own a soochnalaya or kiosk. To encourage women's participation, Drishtee has taken up this project so that women also get a medium to earn and become self-sustainable.
- Economically Backward Communities: Though more than 50 years have passed since independence, the citizen of rural India is still composed of two-third of the total population with earning of only one-third of the national income. Due to comparatively lower rate of job opportunities and increasing immigration the economic condition of Rural India has been further deteriorating. Keeping in view the rural scenario, Drishtee Development And Communication Ltd. intends to present itself for the cause of the rural society by serving economically backward villagers directly rather than using the help of the intermediaries. For this it has been identifying people who are capable enough to be an entrepreneur, despite of the fact that most of them belong to a poor background. Drishtee has facilitated these people with the loan facility, which they can easily repay by selling Drishtee services.
- Young Students in Rural India: To reduce the technological gap and to bring the rural youth up-front with the city students, Drishtee took the initiative to introduce Computer and English education by the name of CEEP to various villages. Although there were many other players who were trying to establish themselves, Drishtee never considered them as its competitor, as the objective of Drishtee was not revenue generation, but to bring ICT to the Rural India at the lowest possible cost. Currently there are more than 4000 CEEP students across Indian parishes. Drishtee through its education initiative has already provided 1500 job opportunities to the rural youth which will increase with the increasing number of students passing out from these classes.
